CO2 Balance & Life Cycle Assessment

A low-carbon project encompasses more than energy consumption - it addresses the full environmental impact of every component and phase.

LCA, or Life Cycle Assessment, is a method used to evaluate the environmental impacts of a product, service, or system using a standardized approach that takes into account all stages of its life cycle: manufacturing, distribution, use, and end-of-life. This multi-criteria approach evaluates various indicators and complies with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards. The Carbon Footprint is part of the LCA. Examples of indicators that can be examined as part of an LCA

  • Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, such as a carbon footprint;

  • The use of fossil fuels (oil, gas, etc.);

  • Energy consumption;

  • Water footprint (volumes withdrawn and seasonality);

It can be used to compare several technical variants. The different options (equipment, layouts, techniques, and systems) are analyzed to identify the one with the lowest environmental impact (reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy consumption, etc.). The results of the LCA are also increasingly being incorporated as criteria for project approval by our clients.

Our Services

We therefore offer to conduct full or partial LCAs (simple carbon footprint assessments) depending on the client’s objectives. We work with you to define the scope of the LCA (indicators, stages considered, etc.) and, drawing on our industrial experience, we provide our expertise at this stage.

Software / Tools Used

  • SimaPro is the market-leading LCA tool. It enables our team, which specializes in its use, to collect, analyze, and manage environmental performance data for products and services. The software has numerous applications, such as carbon and water footprints, product design, the creation of environmental product declarations, and the determination of key performance indicators.

  • Transparent and methodical modeling and analysis of complex life cycles.

  • Measuring environmental impact throughout the entire life cycle.

  • Identify critical links in the supply chain, from raw material extraction through manufacturing, distribution, use, and end-of-life.
