Global warming is a major societal concern and is causing increasingly extreme weather events. Since 2018, every year has set a new record for lightning activity, whether in terms of the number of localized strikes, the number of days affected, or extreme electrical values. For several decades, we have built up expertise in this field to protect buildings and industrial facilities.

Good to know:

The Lightning Risk Analysis (LRA) determines whether lightning protection is required for a facility and defines the level of protection needed.

The Technical Lightning Study (TLS) involves defining the technical solutions to be implemented to protect the facility with the level of protection required by the Lightning Risk Analysis.

Regulatory Requirements

  • Lightning Risk Analysis (LRA)

  • Lightning Technical Study (LTS)

  • Comprehensive and Visual Lightning Inspections (by a certified body)

High-risk facilities subject to one or more of the ICPE, INB, and INBS regulations are subject to lightning protection studies and implementation. High-Rise Buildings (HRBs) such as churches, theaters, etc., may also be affected. With extensive experience in the field of lightning protection across a wide range of sites—from petrochemical and nuclear facilities to military installations—we are certified under the QUALIFOUDRE standard and are capable of supporting our clients on a variety of projects.

Deliverables

  • Lightning Risk Analysis (LRA);

  • Technical Lightning Study (TLS);

  • Comprehensive and Visual Lightning Inspections;

  • Updates to lightning protection files;

  • Various technical assistance services: Expertise, Project Management during the design and/or construction phases, etc.

  • Measurement Campaign for Grounding and Equipotentiality;

  • Surge calculations and Demonstration of Robustness against Lightning Risk (DRF)

Standards and Certifications

All our lightning protection studies are conducted in accordance with standards NF EN 62 305-1 to 4 and NF C 17-102 by our QUALIFOUDRE-certified specialists (Levels 2, 3, and 4).

Comprehensive visual inspections of lightning protection systems ensure that a lightning protection installation complies with the inspection and maintenance guidelines specified in the Technical Lightning Study.

Our specialists provide INERIS-recognized training courses ranging from beginner to expert levels, enabling participants to obtain QUALIFOUDRE certification.
