Logistics Performance

Design, build, and organize your most efficient logistics processes and resources to achieve your operational profitability and quality goals

Let's discuss your needs

Ekium turns your intralogistics and supply chain into a competitive advantage.

Overcrowded warehouses, a need for higher storage density, inefficiencies in order fulfillment, a need for automation, or a change in warehouse management software? Ekium supports you in optimizing your upstream and downstream flows, designing your warehouses, and automating your operations (AGV—Autonomous Guided Vehicle, AMR—Autonomous Mobile Robot, stacker cranes, Goods-to-Person systems, WMS—Warehouse Management System).

From strategic planning to implementation, we combine dynamic flow simulation, automated solutions, and Industry 4.0 digitalization to help you achieve your goals.

We support our clients throughout the entire project lifecycle: assessment, strategic planning, feasibility study, preliminary design, detailed design, and RFP preparation, through to the implementation phase.

Our expertise

Scope and Strategy

  • Analysis of logistics challenges: costs, lead times, quality, flexibility

  • Definition of logistics strategy: in-house vs. outsourced

  • Analysis of distribution strategy: warehouse network, geographic positioning

Analysis and optimization of flows

  • Flow mapping: receiving, storage, order picking, shipping

  • Dynamic flow simulation (Plant Simulation-Siemens, Arena-Rockwell) This solution allows us to account for the full complexity of the system, including temporal interactions and its dynamics, to ensure greater precision and to robustly validate sizing and organization. Sizing of storage and resources (processes, operators), definition of control rules

  • Logistics Value Stream Mapping: identification of non-value-added activities

Design of logistics facilities

  • Production warehouses and distribution warehouses: loading docks, receiving, storage, kitting and order preparation, line-side supply, material handling, order preparation, sequencing and dispatch, shipping.

  • Capacity analyses (storage and performance)

  • Layout plan for logistics facilities, space organization, material/personnel/waste flows

Automated solutions for pallets and bins/boxes

  • AGVs (Autonomous Guided Vehicles) and AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots)

  • High-density storage systems, multi-depth channels

  • Miniload

  • Storage towers: optimization of vertical space

  • Goods-to-person systems: multi-shuttles, ACR (Automated Case-handling Mobile Robot), palletizing/de-palletizing robots

  • Cubic storage solutions

  • Conveyor systems: monorails, conveyors, sorters

Optimization of logistics processes: reduction of handling, elimination of waste

IT solutions and digitization

  • WMS (Warehouse Management System)

  • WCS (Warehouse Control System) for controlling automated devices.

  • Functional analysis

  • Mobile terminals: real-time traceability, operator guidance

  • IT infrastructure: networks, servers, cybersecurity

  • Logistics 4.0: IoT, predictive AI, real-time flow optimization

Focus on Dynamic Flow Simulation

Basically, the components of a supply chain can be dimensioned statically using Excel, but this approach is often too simplistic and results in oversizing. The use of simulation software makes it possible to take into account the full complexity of the system, including temporal interactions and dynamics, for greater accuracy and to validate the dimensioning and organization in a robust manner. It also allows a larger number of scenarios to be tested in order to define the best solution. Modeling can be completed throughout the project, up to production use with a model that can be connected to MES, ERP, and WMS.

Ekium meets your challenges

You may face major industrial logistics challenges: optimizing space by increasing storage density, reducing operating expenses through automation, and improving operational performance with advanced software (WMS, WCS).

It is essential to simultaneously ensure business continuity during transformation phases, while avoiding stockouts that hinder production and deliveries, as well as overstocking that leads to tied-up capital and obsolescence. The lack of traceability poses a growing risk in a demanding regulatory environment. Given the complexity of automation projects requiring cross-functional expertise (process, IT, facilities), agility becomes strategic to adapt quickly to changes in supply chains and new operational requirements.

EKIUM
Our added value is based on proven expertise in dynamic simulation, which guarantees greater robustness than static approaches. We master all automated solutions while integrating regulatory requirements. Our approach is global: we coordinate multi-lot interfaces (logistics, IT, building, sprinklers, cold rooms) to design truly operational and robust solutions. We combine technological innovation 4.0 with cost-effectiveness, with efficient solutions mastered by Ekium.
